Helping the Victims of Flash Flood

July 6, 2011- I, together with my friends went to Km. 9 Matina Pangi to help the people who was been devastated by the flash flood last evening of June 28. I feel sad when I saw the place. I really thought that the place was slightly damage but it was really severe. It was my first time to see a devastated place caused by the flash flood. The concrete bridge was severely broken and most of the house was damage and most of their clothes were washed out by the flood.

We visited the site and bring the necessary things needed by the people around the place. We distributed used clothes and blankets to comfort them while they are asleep. We also distributed bags and slippers for the children.

As I look into the face of those people that we had given, I can really say that they are very happy and glad that we came. Every clothes that we give means a lot to them. There was also a woman who approaches us if she can have blanket for her mother and thanks God that there still a blanket for her mother.

We have also seen lots of children who didn't went to school because they don't have any school supplies like bags, notebooks, pencil, papers etc. That is why we once again decided to go back to the site this coming Wednesday to give them school supplies. If you are a kind person and wants to help these children who are in need, you may help us  giving any donation that you can give. Just leave a comment to help them.

Day 3: About my Friends

"Your friend is the man who knows all about you, and still likes you."

The quote that I mention above exactly describe my friends.  I do have many friends. Friends from my hometown, my close friends in high school and college. They are always  there in times when I'm down and trouble or during my happy moments.
Below are my friends in high school until now:

We usually have our get together every January 1. We usually held it every January 1 so that we will not be going to have a chip-in for our food because its New Year's Day and most of my friends prepares food and they will just bring food at the beach. We also have our get together during our town parochial fiesta.

As I went to college, I gained new friends. Whether you agree with me or not, the relationship between friends in high school and college is different. I am more open and comfortable sharing secrets with my high school friends than my college friends but I prefer travelling from different place with my college friends.

We are not enemies, but friends.  We must not be enemies.  Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection.  The mystic cords of memory will swell when again touched as surely they will be by the better angels of our nature.

Travelling at Barangay Magsaysay, Lupon

I went to one of barrio of our Municipality which is Barangay Magsaysay. It is a very mountainous place and  the road is very rocky. While I travelled  at that place together with my father, the road is very slippy because it rained during that night. We went to that place to find a goat to be cook for my father's birthday. It was my first time to go to that place that is why I was so amazed on how they live there. The people out there are very friendly and the way of their living is very simple. I also love the place because it looks very refreshing. Some of the villagers at that time harvested coconut fruit to sell. On our way back home we have encountered a problem on our motorcycle. The wheel of the motorcycle was damaged. It needs to be vulcanize. We thought that we cannot repair it immediately because there are no vulcanizing shop in barrios. But we were lucky at that time because there was a small hut out there who offers vulcanizing for motorcycle and other vehicle. It almost take us thirty minutes to fixed the wheel and later on we went home.

I have a new strategy learned during my travel at that place. If you are going to buy a goat or any livestock animal you must buy early in the morning so that the weight of the animal is much lighter that buying animals in the afternoon. The reason of this, is that, early in the morning animals don't have yet any food taken unlike in the late afternoon. Animals have already taken food causes a plus weight to the total weight of the animal. This only means that when you buy late in the afternoon you also buy the food that the animal ate which you cannot used or cook.

Day 2: The Meaning Behind my Name

My Real name is Wilkin Felisilda Simo. You can call me will or kin for short. But you can also call me on my first name. What's the meaning behind my name? Well I don't really have any idea what is the meaning of my name so I just search it on google and found out this article:

This name is of early medieval English origin, and is a patronymic form of "Wilkin", itself composed of Will, a short (diminutive) form of William, with the diminutive suffix "kin", the "s" of Wilkins meaning "son of Wilkin". The personal name William was introduced into England by the Normans in the Old Germanic form "Wilhelm" or "Wilelm", as well as the French "Guillaume". The name is composed of the elements "wil", meaning "will, desire" and "helm", helmet, protection. The name Wilkins is first recorded as a personal name in 1166, in the Northumberland Pipe Rolls, as "Wilechin". John Wilkins married Merget Martyn on April 15th 1541 at St. Michael Bassishaw, London, and on November 30th 1550, George Wilkins was christened at St. Andrew Hubbard, London. One John Wilkins and his wife appear as early settlers in the New World; they are listed as residents of "the Eastern Shore" in Virginia in February 1623. There are no less than fourteen Coats of Arms granted to this illustrious family. One of them is an ermine shield, on a black bend three silver martlets, and a gold canton charged with a red rose, the Crest being a black boar passant reguardant pierced through the shoulders with a silver arrow bendways, the boar biting the arrow. The first recorded spelling of the family name is shown to be that of Roger Wylkyns, which was dated 1327, in the "Subsidy Rolls of Staffordshire", during the reign of King Edward 11, known as "Edward of Caernafon", 1307 - 1327. Surnames became necessary when governments introduced personal taxation. In England this was known as Poll Tax. Throughout the centuries, surnames in every country have continued to "develop" often leading to astonishing variants of the original spelling.

I was so amaze on the name that was given to me. I really thought that it was a modern name but it was existed as early as 1166.
